Rich History

Francisco
Q. Sanchez Elementary School is located in the southern village of Umatac.  It is the smallest populated elementary school on the island of Guam.  It is beautifully located in the southern end of Guam directly across Umatac Bay where historians claim Magellan and his crew landed in 1521.

Francisco Quinata Sanchez

F.
Q. Sanchez Elementary School is rich with local culture and pride.  The name F. Q. Sanchez comes from the first principal of the school, Francisco Quinata Sanchez, to whom the school owes much of its earlier successes.  A historical figure to the village, as well as the island, his passion and dedication to the education of children (and adults) has been a continuing pattern at our school.

San Dionicio Church

The school, built in 1953, behind the ruins of the old San Dionisio Church constructed during Spanish times, is also recognized in the Guam and National Registers of historic places.

The photograph on the left shows the remains of the San Dionisio Church built in 1681.
